Monday, 18 August 2014 · 0 comments

Nitin MG studied in KCG College of Technology in the Electronics and Communication department, graduating in 2012. He is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Power Electronics and Drives. The list of ambitious projects that he has undertaken starts with the NIVIRA which was a Sensor Enabled Automatic Safety Breaking Mechanism. This was presented to a panel and received rave reviews. Along with two of his friends from the Mechanical Department, he began brain storming sessions in his second semester and soon the innovation cell was born. The following year, he received funding from DST (Department of Science and Technology) for a project that aims to improve safety features in vehicles. While a real time implementation was not possible, they were able to create a prototype which was tested and found to be a great success.

Nitin continued this trend into his 3rd year with a DTMF Controlled Remote Car which allows a person to control a robot using a cell phone to perform certain actions. This project was also successfully implemented and tested.
Soon prototypes weren’t good enough and he wanted to take NIVIRA to the next level. But at the same time, he got the opportunity to work as part of a 24 member team that participated in a National Level Competition BAJA organised by SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). The goal was to build a rugged single seat off-road recreational four wheeled vehicle intended for sale to a non-professional. The team was able to obtain the necessary funding and the finished product was finally tested at NATRAX test track at Pithampur. Nitin served as the driver during this test drive. Students of the college were also allowed to test drive the vehicle during the Bazzar.

Currently, Nitin is working on taking entrepreneurship to the next level by allowing students to work as software developers and market their products in a bid to improve the relationship between educational institutions and the industry. Clearly, for Nitin, the sky is not the limit. The college has enabled him to act in accordance with his talents and given him the opportunity to shine.

Gautam Kannan graduated from KCG College of Technology in 2014 with a B.Tech degree in Information Technology. In addition to being a good student during his college years, Gautam was also a driven entrepreneur. He even believes that joining the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the college was the smartest decision he has ever made and who could argue that? It was his involvement with this body that led to the birth of his company, Enchanter Corporation.
Enchanter began as a DST (Department of Science and Technology) funded project in 2010 when Gautam was still in his first year of college. It is basically a learning management system where teachers can upload content for the benefit of students. As icing to the cake, the college partnered with the company hosted a national level event known as YMIC. The Young Minds Innovation Challenge was a competition held for students of various colleges to present their project prototypes in front of a panel of judges. The event was a huge success and saw participation from a large number of students.

Vignesh Ram – My Story

I have been a student of KCG College of Technology in the Computer Science and Technology department in the lastfour years. I have learnt a lot in this time. I was a member of the E-cell (cloud10) in all those year and I wasan E-leader in the last two years. We have conducted several speaking and non-speaking events, workshops and more. In our college we conducted the E-week in which we have held youth parliaments, collage (art exhibition) and several marketing events like the walkathon. We also conducted a start-up show case in which all our college start-ups are allowed to show case there product. It helps them to market their product. We also took part in “TATA FIRST DOT” conducted by NEN, in which our students have won various awards. First dot plays a major role in outreach of all start-ups through E-cel. I also had the opportunity to work with two start-ups named Buk-It and Codaxsis. The start-ups are for selling second hand books and selling websites respectively.
We conduct KCG-BAZZAR every year. Initially, we did this during E-week during which time we had 26 stalls. In our KCG-Bazzar we had 34 stalls in the first year and 41 in the second year. We made a net profit of nearly three and half lakhs in first year and more than four lakhs in second year. I managed to supply women’s accessories for stalls in the bazzar.
Personally I have gained many things during this time. In my school days I was a below average student and I was silent and didn’t take part in any activities. KCG College of Technology gave me the opportunity to show my talents and build my self-confidence.
